Area guide: Didsbury
Didsbury is six miles south of the city centre. It's between
Kingsway and Wilmslow Road (the A34), with excellent transport to
Manchester, surrounding suburbs and out to Cheshire.
Living in Didsbury
Didsbury is a mixed neighbourhood with traditional residential family
areas alongside younger, vibrant communities. There are lots of local
shops and small supermarkets, and a larger Tesco store in nearby Parrs
Wood.
Didsbury village has a choice of bars and restaurants, as well as
banks, a post office and library. There are very frequent buses along
Wilmslow Road to Manchester and the universities. Railway stations at
East Didsbury and Burnage offer frequent trains to Manchester and the
airport.
There's access to the river meadows and parks of the Mersey valley;
and the entertainment centre at Parrs Wood offers a multi-screen cinema,
numerous restaurants, ten-pin bowling, a modern gym and a range of other
excellent leisure facilities for adults and children.
