Area guide: Brownley Green
Brownley Green is about eight miles south of the city centre;
east of the M56 motorway, south of Altrincham Road. The M56 leads
straight onto Princess Parkway, a major route into the city centre.
Living in Brownley Green
There are local shops on Hollyhedge Road, and a health centre on
Brownley Road. It's about a mile to the Wythenshawe civic shopping
centre, with its food hall and market.
The centre also includes the Wythenshawe Forum; the place to come for
leisure, learning and childcare. It includes a swimming pool, gym,
sports hall and fitness centre, health centre, children's nursery and
job centre. The modern Forum library has all the latest facilities to
give local people instant access to employment and learning
opportunities.
There are regular buses to the city centre, and plans to extend the
Metrolink tram system through the area to the airport. There's a range
of job opportunities at the airport, with 250 companies based there. The
airport is keen to employ more local people as it grows.
